Pre-treatment
and Paintwork Quality Inspection
Prior to picking up your vehicle I will talk to you
about your vehicle. I will learn the history of the
vehicle, the normal use of the vehicle and what type
of detailing history the vehicle has had.
This service is needed, to help you decide the level
of application your car requires or to assess the standard
of your car's paintwork.
Once I learn the above, I will take the vehicle to my
detail studio and start measuring the Paintwork using
the PosiTest DFT Combo Paint Meterpad.
PosiTest is a hand-held paint meter that is ideal for
measuring the thickness of automotive paint on aluminum
or steel automotive panels.
Digital Paintwork Readings
Paint levels will be measured in microns and then I
will confirm what will be required to remove any paint
defects. At this stage, you can find out if any panels
have been re-painted.

Vehicle Main
Wash
Once I have my readings from the Digital Inspection,
I will start the wash process.
I really want to make sure I strip off all the previous
products that have been applied to the vehicle. To do
this I use a very concentrated alkali soap. This soap
will ad in the process of striping off any wax or polishes
that might be on the painted surfaces. I only use the
best micro-fiber wash mitts and give the car a complete
4 round wash to ensure complete cleaning and stripping
of the vehicle.
Once the car has been fully washed and cleaned, I move
towards the wheels and wheel-wells of the vehicle. I
will remove each wheel from the vehicle so i can make
complete access to the suspension, steering components
and the wheel-wells. A safe non-toxic degreaser is applied
to the inside of the wheel-wells, suspension, and other
components. I hand scrub all these parts and ensure
a complete cleanness.
I then start to focus on the wheels and tires. Using
many different type of brushes I deep clean every inch
of the wheel, including inside the rim. I will remove
any residue left by old wheel-weights and using different
brushes i will detail the brake caliper and other brake
components.

|
|
|
Drying Stage
I first start my 3-stage drying process
with the use of a water blade that will remove up to
90% of the water off the vehicle to ensure no water
spotting.
Next I will use micro-fiber waffle
weave drying towels to soak up the remaining surface
water.
Then I use a powerful blower to pull
out the remaining hidden water that hides in your mirrors,
door handles and body lines. I want to make sure no
water is left prior to the full paintwork decontamination
process.
|
|
|
|
Full paintwork
decontamination
Next I will use a clay substance and
a lube to remove any surface contamination that is adhered
to your paintwork. This clay substance will remove:
Rail dust - produced from the friction
of train wheels against railroad tracks. Over 70% of
new vehicles are shipped by rail. Rail dust can contaminate
a new car's finish before it even reaches the dealership.
Brake dust - particles produced from
the friction of brake pads rubbing against the rotor.
This metal on metal friction disperses tiny particles
of bare metal into the air and on the highway where
it collects on passing vehicles.
Industrial fallout - another word for
pollution, industrial fallout is a byproduct of our
modern industrial age.
Tree sap, Road tar, Bug residue, Paint over
spray, acid rain deposits and other contaminants
that adhere and imbed into the paint finish can cause
damage when left untreated. Contaminants that are left
on the paint surface can weaken the protective properties
and even cause serious damage to the paint finish after
a short time.
I do this process with the car dry
so I can take my time and work each panel at a time.
Using a lube and clay I will work out all the contaminations
so the panel will feel incredibly smooth to the touch.
Once the complete vehicle has had the paintwork decontaminated,
I will re wash the vehicle one last time to remove any
clay bar residue and contamination that might be sitting
on a panel. Again the vehicle goes thru my 3-stage drying
process.

1-3 Stage Evolution
Paintwork Correction Process
Depending on how your paint looks once
I have stripped and clayed the surface will depend on
how I proceed with my paintwork correction process.
Lets just say I see quite a bit of swirls, holograms
and fine to medium scratches. I will perform a 3 stage
paintwork correction process using the Gloss-It Paint
Correction products.
Stage 1:
Using the Cyclo DA polisher and the Gloss-It Evolution
Extreme Cut.
I begin the process to remove the paintwork imperfections.
Extreme Cut is my most aggressive polish and will remove
2000 grit sandpaper scratches, car wash swirls, towel
marks and medium to heavy swirls caused from hi-speed
buffing. Extreme Cut contains no fillers or silicone
emulsion. Extreme Cut is safe for all conventional clear-coats,
single stage paint, and Nano Ceramic clear-coats.
Utilizing two 500 watt halogen lights and the 3M Sun
Gun I will start to break down the heavy scratches.
Once I feel I have all the heavy imperfections gone
I will move to stage 2 of the paintwork correction process.
Stage 2:
Using the Cyclo DA polisher and the Gloss-It Evolution
Cut Polish. This is my mild aggressive polish and will
remove car wash swirls, towel marks and medium to heavy
swirls caused from hi-speed buffing. Evolution Cut contains
no fillers or silicone emulsion. Evolution Cut is safe
for all conventional clear coats, single stage paint,
and nano-ceramic clear coats. Once I feel I have all
the medium and fine scratches out of the paint I move
to the 3rd and final paintwork correction process.
Stage 3:
Using the Cyclo DA polisher and the Gloss-It Evolution
Polish. This is my least aggressive polish in the Evolution
Paint Correction & Polishing system. Evolution polish
is a mild cleaner designed to restore a mirror like
shine without leaving swirls or scratches. Evolution
polish is safe for all conventional clear-coats, single
stage paint, and nano-ceramic clear coats.

I am often asked, "Just what does
sun-swirls look like?"
Take a look at this Mercedes S55 AMG. This car has been washed
& dried improperly and as you can see has quite a few swirls
and fine scratches.
As you can see the above photos show you what our lighting
system can pull from your vehicle. We can see every fine scratch
and swirl that your paint has.
From This |
To This |
 |
 |
The finished process is nothing but mind blowing. When you
eliminate the swirls and fine scratches your paint looks deep
and wet. You will see just what your clear coat should show
you...nothing but a crazy shine, deep glow and that wet look.
